Jennifer is currently serving as the Vice President on the Eanes ISD School Board in Place 5. Jennifer Champagne, formerly Jennifer Salas, was elected to the Board in 2015. She was elected Vice President for the first time in October, 2015. Jennifer was re-elected to the Board in 2018 and was then elected to serve as President of the Board in May, 2018.
Jennifer was selected to join the 2019 Leadership Class for the Texas Association of School Boards. This year-long leadership development program focused on taking experienced board members to a new level of service and leadership. Class members are selected for demonstrated leadership in their local district and communities. Upon graduation she was awarded the designation of Master Trustee.
Jennifer has served on the Legislative Advisory Council for TASB, helping to merge the regional priorities identified by board members around the state into a statewide list of priorities for TASB. She is a member of the Central Texas School Board Association, and has regularly advocated on behalf of Eanes ISD at our State Capitol. In early 2020, Jennifer was selected to represent the district at the National School Board Association's Advocacy Institute in Washington DC, where she met with lawmakers to discuss federal education policies impacting Eanes ISD.
Jennifer has three children, Logan (WHS Class of 2016), Ryan (WHS Class of 2018), and Julia (WHS Class of 2020). They all benefitted greatly from an Eanes ISD education and enjoyed their time as students at Valley View Elementary, West Ridge Middle and Westlake High School. While her children were students in the district, Jennifer served the community in multiple capacities, including Eanes Education Foundation Teacher Fund Chair. She also served on the Eanes Education Foundation Board, helped with the Silent Auction at Valley View Elementary, was a member of the Visioning Committee at West Ridge Middle School, and served in various volunteer positions for the past 17 years in Eanes ISD schools.
As a long-time volunteer for Eanes ISD and as a former teacher, Jennifer Champagne has a passion for high-quality public education. Her goal is to continue serving the district by focusing first on the needs of our students. Her own children received an excellent education in Eanes ISD, and she wants to ensure this excellence continues for future students.
Professionally, Jennifer is a Campaign Development Manager with the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. She earned a BA in Biology from the University of Texas and a Secondary Teacher Certification from the University of Texas, Dallas. She taught middle school science in Richardson ISD before moving to Austin.
